I learnt to sew and trade at a very young age. I learnt the skill first from my mother who had a small store. She converted the garage of our house to a shop where she sold foodstuffs that include rice, beans, honey, yam flour etc. I loved it because I knew that when it was my turn to help in her store I made sure I gave a good customer experience to our customers.
However, There were some disadvantages, one major one was when debtors refused to pay. It was difficult going to their houses to collect our money, this affected my pocket money the following day. They had a bad attitude when it came to paying for what they bought. This fueled my passion and interest in sales and marketing. It also led me to pursue a career in digital/online marketing where you can sell from the comfort of your home country and still ship your goods and services to other parts of the country and the world.
I started a cushion business that allowed me to make (sewing) and sell cushions using local materials in online stores using the best search engine optimization skills to rank higher than my competitors. I believe with this orientation and skill set I can help farmers sell their farm produce and help grow the business of the community much more, by introducing e-commerce, online marketing and offline marketing. My negotiation skills are superb and I am very positive about everything I do. I also make beads into jewellery.
I was born in the city of Lagos and all my life I live in the hustle and bustle of Lagos, Nigeria. I schooled and spent most of my time with my parents in the city of Lagos. Much more than that I wanted to travel and see the world beyond what I saw it as. So I had the opportunity to travel around Nigeria. My first major opportunity to live with the locales from Nigeria was when I travel to a town know as Baruten in Kwara, Nigeria. It was one of the most beautiful time of my life. Asides from my primary assignment which was to teach high school students literature in English and the Use of English - I learnt their language, ate their food and taught them how to trade, I also assisted in harvesting tomatoes at a farmer's farm and I attended some of their parties. This counted as fun that I had to blog about it. I had a series of blog posts known as The Tale of a Kopa by Morayo Oshodi. Google this you'll be able to share in my experiences.
